Textured Heart

Good morning and happy Monday. I've recently subscribed to Mixed Up , and they are currently running a 'texture' challenge. I wanted to play along but I'm a bit short of time so I thought I would recycle an old make. This is what it looks like now

And this is what it looked like before the 'makeover'

I started by adding some Powertex, cheesecloth, artballs, and texture sand to my heart.

Then I gave it all a few coats of gesso.

Time for some paint now - I started with DecoArt fluid acrylics in blues.

And followed with purples.

This is where I threw the kitchen sink at it! We have quin gold, gilding waxes, and embossing powders.

Would it have been quicker to make something from scratch - yeah probably, but not as much fun!

I'm also joining in with the 'Rust' challenge at Mixed Media Monthly.

Have a lovely week, and thanks very much for looking x

  1. It's a fabulous revamp Sue, the glory of these projects is you can reclaim them again and again and again and they look just as amazing each time. It's a great way to get rid of those bits and bobs we have lying around. Beautiful make & good luck in your challenge.
