Something Old, Something New

Good morning and happy Friday, welcome to the weekend!
I'm back with my second project for the Rubber Dance colour/theme challenge, and this time I've gone for the theme, which is Something New.

My something new is Yupo paper, I know it's been around for ages, but I've never actually used it.

I started by using 3 colours on a felt pad and really like how it looks.

Then I dropped lots of different colours onto another sheet - I'm really liking this now. The biggest difference that I could see to glossy card is that the inks take much longer to dry, and that if you give it a blast with a heat gun the paper can warp.

Then I stamped away using different colour of Stazon. I cut some black card with a Memory Box strip die to give them a postage stamp look. This took AGES, but I do like how they look.

Then I stamped and ribbled some kraft card as a background for my 'postcards'
And we're all done. I've added them to the background with push pins.
Don't forget there's still time for you to join in with the challenge over at the Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge  I hope to see you over there.

I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge, which is 'alcohol - inks or drinks'
Have a very happy weekend, and thanks very much for looking x

  1. That's a beautiful and interesting piece, really lovely. Hugs, Valerie

  3. This really is fab Sue, love how you selected the cuts to create this. Awesome stamps. Yupo really is a sturdy medium and as true Yupo is recyclable it's a real bonus. Love it.
Have a fab weekend Hugs Tracey xx

  4. Your 'notice board' idea is brilliant, I can just imagine how long it took to cut those postage stamp edges, but it was worth it, they look amazing! Love this whole idea. Hugs, Anne xx

  5. This is great. You have inspired me to use alcohol inks more.

  6. Great project Sue. Have a lovely creative week too. Angela xXx

  7. This project is GORGEOUS and such a great example of alcohol inks being incorporated into projects. It's such a magical product and you've highlighted it at its finest here. This was so clever and a treat to see. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

  8. Great effects on your paper. I had some years ago and I had forgotten how good it was.

Love the way you used it and all the fantastic ideas you added

    Have a great day

    Love Chrissie xx

  9. I love your colourful postcards - lovely Yupo experiments. I've got that same pad buried somewhere in the craft room - no idea where it's got to! The distressed "pinboard" background is so cool.

  10. Love your pinboard Sue , and wow the yopo paper the first one is GORGEOUS - and love the idea of the look of post stamps, too - they are so wonderful ! <3 xx
