Follow Your Heart

Good morning and happy Saturday. I'm really enjoying the 'mask' challenge over on the PaperArtsy blog, so I'm joining in again.

This was very simply made by cutting masks, then just adding Infusions around them.

Then I stamped my Darcy and Sara Naumann stamps in the white spaces, and coloured with the Infusions.
I even added some hand stitching, though to be honnest, life's too short!
This is now my first page in my new journal, and I really enjoyed making it.

I'm also entering this into the That's Crafty I Heart You challenge
Have a fun week, and thanks very much for looking x

What Lies Beneath

Hi and happy Thursday. I've been having a play with some Decoart paints, Andy Skinner stencils, and Seth Apter stamps and dies, to make another journal cover.

I started with lots of DecoArt paints and a brayer.

Then added lots of black and red through pipettes and spritzed with water.

And mopped up with a piece of card - I'll be using this later.

Time for some stamping and stencilling now. I've used Andy's skull, lots of PaperArtsy stamps, and a white pen.

I used the mop up sheet as the top piece of my Seth die cuts. The smaller ones reminded me of microscope slides, so...

I stamped some slides and dribbled lots of glue around the edges and inked over with red.

The 'coffin' shape has been stamped and tripple embossed then aged with antiquing cream.

I'm entering this into the following challenges.
Dream In Darkness - anything dark or weird
Try It On Tuesday - anything messy, and
Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - use your favourite tool - it has to be my white pen.
This has been great fun (and messy) to make. Have a great week, and thanks very much for looking x

Leave A Little Sparkle

Good morning and happy Wednesday. I'm really excited about our new challenge over at Rubber Dance. Our first themed challenge is 'layers' and here's mine.

I love layers so I was more than happy with this challenge. I started by gessoing and stencilling some texture paste on an MDF plaque.

Then I roughly painted with some Distress Paints in pink and purple. Yes I do photograph them all together so that I can remember what I used lol.

Time for some more colour now, some yellow and orange again through a stencil.

And now lots of background stamping. I've used the bricks and hearts from Textured Houses, the circles from Pick a Number, Vision from Collage Mix, and the circles are from Round in Circles

Time for the main images now. I stamped the houses and bits and bobs from Textured Houses and coloured with bright Distress Paints.

Lots of cutting and layering.

And some acetate stars and a moon to add another layer. The sentiment is a Tim Holtz sticker. It mentions sparkle so I added a few sequins :-)

All done, and great fun to make. So it's over to you now, please join in with our lovely layers challenge, link it up, then I can come and visit.
Thanks very much for looking and have a great week xx

How Many More Sleeps??

Good morning and happy Monday. I'm really excited to be part of a new design team called Season's Greetings. I'm in team Kangaroo (yes it's an Australian DT) and I will be sharing a Christmas card (or anything Christmassy) every second Tuesday of the month. But it's Monday I hear you say - not in Australia it isn't, it's Tuesday already. So you see I WILL be organised this Christmas lol. Our challenges will always be Anything Goes, and this month the optional twist is Love, so here is my very first card.

I bought some of these shaped cards from Which Craft in Doncaster 'cos I thought they looked really unusual.

They are a tent fold and the front is connected to the back so they always stand up, but the fold flat(ish) for posting. I started by putting some snowy acetate over the aperture.

You also get some frames with the card so I've just covered mine with some card from a DCWV stack.

And stamped and watercoloured my happy Woodware snowman family. I've gone a little over the top with the glitter and fake snow, but it's Christmas (well it is in about 10 months)

Then it was just a matter of sticking it all together. This photo shows the way the card stands, with the image angled to the back.

My little tag and sentiment is from Rubber Dance.

So please join in with our new challenge and get yourself organised for Christmas - you know you want to!
Have a fabulous week, and thanks very much for looking

Masking For PaperArtsy

Good evening and happy Saturday. I'm still without my computer, but as Chris has gone to London for the weekend (in the snow brr) I've 'borrowed' his laptop.
The latest challenge at PaperArtsy is to use a mask. This is what I've made.

I'm still enjoying playing with alcohol inks so I knew I wanted to use these. I've die cut masks and put them onto my glossy card, then added the ink with a dropper and a straw.

Then I stamped the butterflies in the spaces that the masks left.

I love these betterflies.

This time of year is really busy for me for birthdays and anniversaries, so I've not put a sentiment on yet as I'm not sure where it's going.
This was great fun AND I have a card at the end of it.
Have a crafty weekend, (or enjoy the rugby) and thanks very much for looking x

A Giraffe, In The Snow

Just another Friday really! Hello and a very happy snowy Friday. I'm sorry that I've not been around much, but my NEW (only a year old) computer is away for repairs. After nursing my cronky old one for many years, I thought a brand new all singing, all dancing one would be the answer to my prayers. NO! It went in, came home, and it was worse. And the numpty had wiped word, and the anti virus etc. It's now in again - can you tell I'm not a happy bunny lol.
Anyway my blogging buddies Valerie and Chrissie have re-launched Tag Tuesday and the first challenge is 'bookworm' - obviously they meant to say book giraffe.

The stencil is by Andy Skinner.

The paints are all DecoArt Media.

The rather spiffing giraffe is from Rubber Dance, and the books and background stamps are by Stampotique.

Have a lovely day, play carefully in the snow, and thanks very much for looking xx

DecoArt Play Time

Well rugby's back which means that Neil doesn't notice if I disappear for an hour or two (or three or four) so that's it, I'm in my conservatory and playing!

This is a piece of thick chipboard slightly larger than A4. I wanted to make my own art journal so this is the front cover - there's nothing to go in it yet lol.

It's all made with Deco Art paints and mediums, and Andy Skinner stencils, stamps, and techniques.
We have rusted modeling paste.
Some stamping and crackling.
More rust and Metalic Lustres on Mr Monopoly Guy.

I really enjoyed the peeled paper technique.
I spent hours doing this, it was such fun and I just kept on adding bits - due to the highlights (repeats) of the rugby, no-one noticed!
My blogging friend Rachel is hosting the challenge at Stamps and Stencils so I'm entering this over there.
Have a wonderful week, and thanks very much for looking x

Clap Your Hands

Good morning and happy Saturday. I've really enjoyed the latest PaperArtsy challenge which is Pink and Orange, so I've been playing with my paints again. These really are my happy colours, and the butterfly came from a sheet of uncut rubber so it was good to get them inky.

There's lots of Fresco's, stencilling, and stamping.

Grunge paste and Treasure Gold. The sun is shining this morning so I may even get an outdoors shot

I've used
HP1204EZ
EEG16
HP1203
HP1503EZ and
ESN11
I'm also linking this to the Mixed Media Monthly February challenge which I think fits in beautifully with these happy sweets and colours.

Have a great weekend, and thanks very much for looking x

A 25 Minute Card - Oh Yeah!

Good Morning and happy Friday. I'm really happy to be sharing my second 30 minute project for Country View Crafts, and this one took me 25 minutes (oh no it didn't - oh yes it did!!)

However, as I 'owe' 5 minutes from my last card, I guess that makes us all square.

PaperArtsy recently had an alcohol ink challenge on their blog and I learned this technique there. In the example canned air was used, but I simply take a few drops of alcohol ink, a drinking straw, and blow... a lot!

Next I added some stamping with JOFY 14, JOFY 09, and ELB 06, and filled the images in a little bit with Prisma pens.

Then a bit of matting, layering and stitching to hold it all together and we're done with 5 minutes left to spare - ta dah!

So 30 minutes or less is all I'm asking for you to join in with our challenge - you can get the supplies ready and tidy up again in your own time lol.

Have a fabulous weekend, and thanks very much for looking x
