Wanna Play A Game

Hi, it's time for my second piece for Country View Crafts and January's theme is 'Inspired by Bottles'. Call me sad, but I love ships in bottles, so this is my ship on a bottle.
My version is more Pirates of the Caribbean than Little Mermaid, but that's to be expected with a Stampotique mermaid.

I started with a clear bottle and filled it with glass beads. I added a couple of drops of Salty Ocean re-inker to water and topped up my bottle. I then mopped up the water and picked up the beads that had floated up and out!
My waves are from a Dyan Reaveley plate, and my Sheena Douglass sunken ship has been stamped onto black shrink plastic. The seaweed is a very old stamp that's been stamped onto acetate.
Such a scary mermaid needs a quote from a scary film, and they don't come any scarier than Saw.
She's been coloured with pencils and cut out and attached. Sticking things to glass is such fun - not!
So would you like to play a game with her - you wouldn't win!

I hope you like my bottle, and there's still plenty of time for you to join in with our challenge, so find your inspiration in a bottle (that sounded better in my head, alcohol is not compulsory lol)

Have a great day, and thanks very much for looking x

  2. I don't care what your version is - it is the most wonderful bottle I have ever seen and I do want to copy it. I don't know if I want to play the same game as Malicious the Mermaid but I do have that stamp!!!!

  4. Wow, Sue - that's completely inspired... what a brilliant creation. Love the glass beads, and the idea of colouring the water to create your ocean-in-a-bottle. And the Stampotique mermaid finishes it off beautifully. Amazing!

  7. Comforting to know that even Sue the Iron creates a "mop-up" mess from time to time! But what a great mess this turned out to be. Perfect elements for your private ship in a bottle! Well done!
