Where Does The Time Go

Good afternoon and happy Sunday. Well somehow my baby turns 25 next week! It doesn't seem like 2 minutes since he was born. I had all my own hair colour then, and Neil had (some) hair! My baby boy is now 6'2'' and I couldn't be more proud of him, but enough of the soppy stuff, here's his birthday card ;-)

His favourite colours have always been orange and green, so there's plenty of these here. I've used my new favourite for today stamps which can be found here. Lost Coast Designs also have a growing range of Katzelkraft stamps and they can be found here.

The background has been made with lots of Distress Oxides and stencilling, so I'm joining in with the Simon Says Stamp Monday and SSS Wednesday challenges which are both Stencil It, and The Happy Little Stampers Watercolour and Anything Goes With Dies challenges.

Lazy Summer Days

Good morning and happy Wednesday. It's a really quick post from me today to share a page that I've made for my new Eileen Hull Pasport journal.

This is the inside of the page - you can just see the holes where the elastic goes through. I really love this journal it's the perfect size to make 'something'  when you only have an hour to spare. I know some people can make a full production piece in an hour, but I'm not one of them lol.

Good afternoon and happy Tuesday. It's time for a new challenge over at the Lost Coast Portal To Creativity, and this time it's Tweet This - we want to see your bird projects. Here's mine.

I have a confession to make, this is the first time I've inked up this beautiful stamp, but it won't be the last!

I started by die cutting a couple of Tim Holtz frames that fit this stamp nicely.

I stamped the Kingfisher a couple of times onto watercolour card and coloured him with Distress Markers.

Then I painted the chipboard with DecoArt white acrylic, stamped randomly with the Joy background stamp and then crackled it all with crackle paste.

When the crackle was dry I used antiquing cream to define the cracks and popped up the bird and butterflies on 3d foam.

Textured Heart

Good morning and happy Monday. I've recently subscribed to Mixed Up , and they are currently running a 'texture' challenge. I wanted to play along but I'm a bit short of time so I thought I would recycle an old make. This is what it looks like now

And this is what it looked like before the 'makeover'

I started by adding some Powertex, cheesecloth, artballs, and texture sand to my heart.

Then I gave it all a few coats of gesso.

Time for some paint now - I started with DecoArt fluid acrylics in blues.

And followed with purples.

This is where I threw the kitchen sink at it! We have quin gold, gilding waxes, and embossing powders.

Would it have been quicker to make something from scratch - yeah probably, but not as much fun! 

I'm also joining in with the 'Rust' challenge at Mixed Media Monthly.

Good afternoon and happy Tuesday. It's my turn to show you my yellow and orange piece for the latest Lost Coast Designs challenge, so here he is.

I've used Drips for the background, and the wonderful Bandaid Dog from a selection of Katzelkraft stamps that Lost Coast stock.

Good morning and happy Monday.  I'm loving the latest fun challenge at Country View Crafts which is Be Humerous. Here's my card.

 I started with a brayer clean up sheet from a previous project. I really like the colours that had been created with the  PaperArtsy Fresco paints.

 This stamp sheet is such fun! I stamped these guys from Zinski Set 16 for placement.

 Then I stamped them again and coloured with Inktense watercolour pencils.

 They are really quite easy to cut out, which made me very happy as I'm not the worlds best at cutting out! 

 They're a handsome bunch aren't they!

I love this sentiment, it's from Carmen's Veranda and I know quite a few people that would appreciate it (you know who you are)

And there we are, all done! I had some scraps of card left over from the same project that the mop up card came from, so I made some banners. I know you can't keep everything, but I'm glad that I do lol.

I Don't Like Mornings

Good morning and happy Tuesday. Hopefully it's now time for the May flowers. Of course a new month means a new challenge at Country View Crafts, and my friend Monika has picked a really fun one - she wants to see some humour in our projects. Here's what I've made.

 I started by brayering a background with PaperArtsy Fresco paints, then used Tim Holtz new Organic stencil and Distress Ink in Salty Ocean

 Then I added some stamping from the Rubber Dance Playful Penguins and Whale Wishes plates. There's a selection of Rubber Dance stamps here.

 Don't you just love these Grumpy Penguins - penguins aren't just for Christmas you know! The quote is from a Dylusions set, but I bet you knew that lol. There's a range of Dyan's stamps here
