A Regency Romance Pinwheel Tower Card

Good morning and a very happy Sunday! We've just come back from a fabulous sunny holiday in Tenerife and it's straight back to laundry (yuk!) and grandma duties (well go on then, if I must 😁😁😁)

Before we went away I made this pinwheel tower card with the beautiful Regency Romance collection from Relatively Thoughtful.
These 6x4 postcards come with the collection so obviously these were going to be the stars of my card.
Just to annoy everyone (myself included) I've really mixed my metaphors (😉) with my measurements for the base cards. The postcards are exactly 6x4, so I've added an 1/8 of an inch all around for the border, and then added another 5 cm for the central tower and scored and folded there.
This is the bit that always trips me up! You just join the long sides to the short sides. Simples NOT. If I go straight in with the glue it always ends up in the big blue filing cabinet under my desk, so I paperclip it all together first. Of course I get it right first time when no actual glue is involved!
And with good luck and a following wind, it all looks like this when it's joined together!
I used a lovely toning paper for the side strips and added some stamping for a bit of extra interest. I practised with a few ink pads to get the correct colour.
I also fussy cut some images and chopped up some sentiments from the cut-apart sheets.
Isn't she the most beautiful woman ever? I punched out some tiny red hearts to give her a pop of colour.
And another side.
And a third
And the final side.
Not that I have favourites, but if I did....
And the view from the top, just before you squish it all down to fold flat for postage! Well done if you've stuck with me all this time - you can have an extra 10 points which means you should win the Hogwarts House Cup!

A Fine Romance

Good morning and a very happy Sunday. Today I've made a very romantic card using the Regency Romance collection from Relatively Thoughtful.

I'm sure that this style of card has a name, but if it does, I don't know what it is lol.
There is really only one thing to remember about this card and that's that the FOLD IS AT THE TOP! Yup, ask me how I know... Anyway, here is my top layer. This collection really has so many pretty papers.
For my underneath layer, I chose a plain pink so that it wouldn't be fighting with the top. Then I added some stencilling in pink, yellow, and blue just to keep with the roses theme.
I think (hope) that they work well together.
For my focal point I'm making a small shaker. All of the images and frames come with the collection on sheets and sheets of cut-aparts. As the frame is quite narrow I've had to cut my shaker tape down the middle - don't you just love 3D foam tape on your scissors.
I always put a line of wet glue on my shaker tape. That way you stand a chance of moving it if /when (Every Single Time it's when) you don't get the frame in the exact right place.
Oh to be young again!
And there we are, all chopped up and stuck back together again. I hope you can still remember the golden rule!

A Regency Romance Floating Gatefold Card

Good morning and a very happy Sunday. I'm so happy to be sharing this floating gatefold card made with the beautiful new "A Regency Romance "collection from Relatively Thoughtful. This is such a fabulous collection, I could have made the card 10 times over and still be spoiled for choice for which papers to use!

I made this style of card last year using a tutorial by Paul Lang-Ford, and my original blog post and links to Paul's tutorial can be found here.
I started by making my base card. This is such a big base, perfect for displaying these gorgeous papers, but it still folds flat and fits in a 7x5 envelope.
Then I chose my wonderful images and cut my layers.
I always use wet glue for my cards and this is my favourite. I like to ink the edges of my papers - it covers a multitude of sins (and wonky cutting out lol)
This is my card opened out to its full extent. It definitely has mantlepiece appeal.
Just look at these gorgeous images. This is such a romantic collection, perfect for Valentine's Day/ weddings/ anniversaries.
There are also sheets of cut-apart sentiments.
Such stunning images.
We all need this guy in our lives (but I would definitely settle for Colin Firth as my Mr Darcy)
There are also sheets of cut-aparts of beautiful frames and images.
And then it all closes up to fit in a 7x5 envelope.
